Germany Europe Travel Trip Insurance
>> Remember, when you're taking out travel insurance, Germany...
Germany plays host to some great skiing and mountaineering as well as some of the world's most famous festivals.
Germany is a fantastic country to hit the snow, with some of the best skiing in the region to be found in Bavaria - also home of the Oktoberfest, postcard perfect Neuschwanstein Castle and the Oberammergau Passion Play, a local tradition since1634.
For skiing, also check out Italy - the 2006 Winter Olympics were held in Turin - and France has some fairly massive, not always picturesque, resorts with great skiing. For good ski fields in a quieter local, try Andorra on the border of Spain.
If you're making the most of the snow, you'll need to ensure everything is in place with your travel insurance. Skiing (downhill and cross country) snowboarding and most snow sports are covered in our low cost insurance.
Don't go booking your holiday and then leaving it until the last minute to take out travel insurance. Europe is vast with loads of options so many travellers prefer to book a tour in advance. If you need to cancel you could lose your deposit so make it an immediate priority after booking to get inclusive travel insurance. Backpackers, though, often just want to cruise along the amazing art and history route at their own pace, or go flat out furious with adventure sports.
If you're travelling on to the UK - England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales - they are all covered under our economical worldwide policy option. And don't forget to collect your FREE Lonely Planet Shoestring Guide for Europe if you're purchasing 12 or 18 months worth of cover.
Naturally, when you come to buy cover for your travel, Australia has oodles of companies offering you travel insurance, so you will need to take your time to compare. Some aspects you may not consider, but which can have a significant impact, include: hazardous activities covered or not, any excess on claims and if so which claims and how much, what are the contact times and availability of their claims centre and where the company stands on pre-existing medical conditions.
This isn't the time to grab the first option, so when you buy travel insurance online, Germany, also check on what the company have set up in case you need emergency medical or hospital treatment or should you need evacuation to a suitable hospital or back to Australia.
>> Which Hostel and What...
- If you hit a city on spec and can't find any accommodation, try the Tourist Information Centre in that city. They may charge a minimal amount for the service but they have their finger on the accommodation pulse and can find you a place that suits and book you in on the spot.
- If you're pre-booking you might need to take into consideration aspects such as if you want a single-sex room or shared and if you prefer an upper or lower bunk.
- Don't forget shower shoes or thongs - must have items - earplugs or similar, sleep sheet and pillowcase and investigate the option of a micro fibre quick dry towel.
