Spain Travel Insurance Compare our Low Cost
>> 4 outstanding levels of travel insurance for Spain, Europe or worldwide
There is something about the thought of Spain that gets the blood stirring. It’s without doubt one of the most popular destinations – great beaches, eclectic cities, idyllic rural-scapes, the breathtaking Pyrenees and exotic Mediterranean coastline – plus it’s all so central to France, the UK, Germany, Italy and north Africa – who could resist being so close and not visiting Casablanca.
The natural beauty and freedom of the Pyrenees National Park is known as a trekker’s heaven. All the usual precautions of walking in a mountainous region apply – weather can change rapidly, altitude can affect energy levels, you need to take a pack, stay to the marked paths and always advise someone where you’re going. Naturally, you need the protection of travel insurance. Backpackers love this region but should never skimp on their travel insurance to Spain as the cost of air lifting and evacuation is massive. For all that, this is a region that should not be missed.
Depending on your point of view you will either want to visit or totally avoid the city of Pamplona during early July when the city holds the famous Running of the Bulls. Warning: your travel insurance for Spain does not cover you if you participate in this event as it is deemed extreme high risk.
Our four great levels of cover range from basic Bronze through Silver, Gold and Platinum. With Platinum level you receive unlimited hospital, medical, evacuation and lost deposits and cancellations fees plus up to $10K emergency cash, up to $5,000 lost luggage, documents and personal possessions and credit cards, trip resumption plus plus plus.
In Spain, some adventure companies won’t allow you to participate unless you prove you have comprehensive travel and medical insurance (so be doubly sure to take your documents). Depending on your planned itinerary, this might be the time to compare and consider your insurance options. Check your insurance policy for full details on which activities are not covered.
Great news is iTrek automatically covers you for skiing and most snow sports on your travel insurance. Europe has some of the best snow fields and everything is within such easy distance that it’s easy to maximise your activities and your fun.

>> Accommodating thoughts...
- Peak season in Spain is late July through early August. If you’re heading for resort accommodation, it’s rare to find just overnight accommodation. You’ll usually need to book a minimum of 3 days.
- If you’re travelling with a group or as a family, be warned the Spanish government is very strict about the number of people per room. Make sure of the legislation and book accordingly.
- The Costa Del Sol is a stunning piece of Spain – but if you want a truer sense of ‘Spain’ you might also need to head inland away from the tourist hubs.
